The sweat lodge is both a Native American and Celtic tradition to help purify and heal body and mind. We conduct lodges in the Celtic Tradition, but also invite Native American Shaman to lead lodges, as well.
The lodge is often viewed as the womb of the earth. To enter the lodge is to go back to the time before our birth. The lodge is a small hut structure that is completely dark. After everyone has entered, red-hot stones, which have been cooked for hours in a fire, are placed in a hole in the center of the hut. When the door flap is closed, the heat starts the purifying process and the sweating begins. We will use drumming, chanting and prayer. The power moves individuals in different ways and everyone can, in the darkness, let out our inner rage, frustrations, pain, grieving, prayers, and thanksgivings in the safest of places; the womb of your mother. We conduct sweat lodges during the seasonal turnings of the year, as well as at other times of the year.
